Scoutmaster's Minute

by Scoutmaster Fran Gillis

A busy time for scouting so make sure you are keeping up with the dynamic web site we run. Packets are out for the June 20th - 26th Summer Camp experience at Woodruff Scout Camp. Yes, that’s June 20th - 26th. The sooner the scout signs up for his desired
classes, the better chance of securing his choices. If those dates do not work for your summer schedule, there are alternatives... other weeks where it is possible to link a scout as a provisional attendee, attend for an additional week, or even attend an out-of-Council experience on your own.

Bert Adams, the Council’s other summer camp location, is also available as well as any
camp in the nation. Please see the Scoutmaster if you are interested in any of these camping
opportunities. In case you haven’t seen last year’s Summer Camp Troop photos, they are still
available on the Troop website. March is also busy with our outing to Okefenokee Swamp for
canoeing or motor boating with a little skeet shooting added in. Then that next weekend is a District Camporee at Woodruff. Our Sea Base crew will be heading out at the end of month for a week in the Florida Keys sailing, snorkeling and some fishing. Service projects are going strong including the alien Invasion eradication by the National Park service on March 6, and numerous eagle projects by our scouts. So if you haven’t found the outing in scouting you are just not trying!
